"May the Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon You"
Praise be to Allaah, we seek His help and His forgiveness. We seek refuge with
Allaah from the evil of our own souls and from our bad deeds. Whomsoever Allaah
guides will never be led astray, and whomsoever Allaah leaves astray, no one can
guide. I bear witness that there is no god but Allaah, and I bear witness that
Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
Bismillah Walhamdulillah Was Salaatu Was Salaam ‘ala Rasulillah
As-Salaam Alaikum Wa-Rahmatullahi Wa-Barakatuhu
This Friday will be the day known as Good Friday, this day is observed by
Christians around the world, for them it is a holy day, this is the day in which
Jesus was betrayed and taken onto the cross and crucified, hence the Good
Friday.
Now if we are to take this date for granted, meaning that if this is indeed the
exact precise date of Prophet Jesus (pbuh) crucifixion, then indeed this is a
Good Friday, not for the Christian reasons, but for the true Islamic reasons,
because then it was on this day that Allah swt thwarted his enemies and saved
his prophet and Messiah Jesus.
Just like the Christians we the Muslims believe that the crucifixion episode
took place on a Friday, however so unlike the Christians we do not believe that
God allowed for his Messiah to be humiliated and killed off by his enemies, we
read from the Quran:
That they said (in boast), "We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the
Messenger of Allah" but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was
made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no
(certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed
him not:- Nay, Allah raised him up unto Himself; and Allah is Exalted in Power,
Wise (4:157-158)
So as we read, Allah saved Prophet Jesus (pbuh) from the hands of his enemies,
the evil wicked enemies of Allah swt were planning and plotting against Jesus,
they did not like him nor his message, hence they wanted to get rid of him, and
they also wanted to prove something to themselves as well, that by killing Jesus
this would prove that he was not their king, nor Messiah, because after all the
Messiah would not be killed as a criminal at the hands of his enemies.
Their plot was foiled, Allah saved Jesus from both the cross, and from death,
and instead of this Allah directly raised Jesus into the heavens, thereby
leaving the enemies of Jesus in defeat and protecting the Messiah, and this is
the real Good Friday.
Whats so good about Good Friday ?
What is so good about a Friday in which a prophet of God is killed by his
enemies ? A day in which a prophet of God is humiliated by his enemies? A day in
which a prophet is tortured and beaten by his enemies? What is so good about
such a day?
Do we celebrate acts of murder against the innocence by criminals? Of course
not, there is nothing ?
Good about this Friday according to the Christian version of the crucifixion,
the only Good thing about this Friday is that Islam is the truth, and it allows
us to know that Jesus was not killed, rather he was saved, and this is why this
is a Good Friday.
So to all the Muslims, if you have any Christian friends, then let them know the
truth of what is really good about this Friday, let us make this day stand for
what it truly is, which is a celebration of Gods power in saving the Messiah,
not a day in which people celebrate an act committed by the enemies of God!
